What is IDPA? IDPA is a safe & fun shooting sport that emphasizes the use of Practical equipment to solve simulated "Real Life" scenarios. The main goal of IDPA is to test the skills and ability of the individual shooter. Who may participate in these matches? Any "SAFE" shooter may participate in these matches!! We have shooters of all ages , shapes and sizes. We have shooters of all different skill levels from Novice to Master! What equipment do I need to participate? You will need very little in the way of equipment: 1. A serviceable handgun of at least 9mm / .38special or larger caliber.2. At least 3 magazines or speedloaders.3. A strong side hip holster.4. Eye and Ear Protection.5. 100 Rounds of Ammunition6. A good attitude and a willingness to have FUN!!

All "SAFE" shooters are invited and welcome to attend any of our events!!
We would love to have you come shoot with us.
We try to make it as easy as possible to get started. We utilize online registration and scoring with Practiscore. All you need to do is
register for the match of your choosing on Practiscore.com
We shoot at two different ranges, one in San Antonio and one in Austin.
Here are the links to our club pages on Practiscore.
San Antonio: https://practiscore.com/clubs/texas_tactical
Austin: https://practiscore.com/clubs/texas_tactical_austin
Please follow one or both of our pages (Depending on where you would like to shoot)on Practiscore. This will help you find the registration links for our matches. Registration for each match generally opens the
Sunday at 6pm before the following weekend matches. On the morning of a match Just show up with your gear and check in for the match. It's that easy.
We have a great group of friendly people and helpful Safety Officers they will all work together to help you get through your first match.
Your first time out we do ask that you attend a new shooter orientation that takes place before every match. This will go over match basics and safety. It will also give you a chance to ask any last-minute questions you might have.
The new shooter orientation starts approximately 9:40 AM before every match. So if you show up say, no later than 9:20am that will assure you are ready for the orientation. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes depending
on how long winded the safety officer is who's giving it that day.
Our website has a lot of information about gear needed and has our schedule.
Safety is our number one concern for all our participants. So the best thing to practice is your gun handling skills. Keeping the gun pointed down Range at all times, finger off the trigger until you are ready to
fire, drawing and holstering safely. While these skills are not the most glamorous they are the most important to every shooter.
I sure hope this helps. Feel free to ask any additional questions you may have.

Texas Tactical holds several Tactical Carbine Matches throughout the year! The objective of these matches is to allow people to become more familiar with and to improve and test their skills in a simulated CQC (close quarters combat) environment with the rifles they have chosen to defend themselves and their loved ones! MATCH DESCRIPTION Tactical Carbine matches generally consist of 5 stages based on self defense scenarios. The distances we shoot from are varied from contact out to 100+ yards, with the majority of shots being fired from 10 - 40 yards. The rules are loosely based on IDPA (International Defensive Pistol Association) doctrine. We use the Vickers count scoring system in conjunction with the IDPA silhouette targets. Vickers count scoring combines time elapsed and points down on the target. This type scoring stresses a good balance of speed and accuracy. Proper use of available cover is expected and required. The course description given before each course of fire is very specific about what is expected! Divisions of Competition There are six divisions of competition. 1. IRON SIGHTS - This division is for rifles using conventional iron sights. 2. OPTICS - This division is for rifles equipped with scopes or any kind of electronic sighting device. IE: Aimpoints, Acogs, Reflex etc. 3. LIMITED - This is for rifles with limited ammo capacity. IE: Camp Carbines, CCUs, Lever Actions etc. (You may only load to 10 rounds maximum in this division.) 4.
